The European Commission and the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 International Product Safety Week Student Mentorship Programme.
The Pilot Programme aims to attract motivated and talented students to the consumer product safety field and offer them networking opportunities with experienced product safety professionals.
What do mentees stand to gain?
Successful applicants will be invited to attend the International Product Safety Week, taking place on 14-17 October 2024 in Brussels. This includes open sessions organised by the European Commission and the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) International Symposium.
The conference will provide an excellent opportunity to learn from and network with a broad range of product safety experts from all around the world, including national authorities, international regulators, consumer organisations, manufacturers, retailers, law firms, test laboratories, researchers, law firms, and more.
In addition, each mentee will be paired with an experienced mentor to provide personalised guidance, support and knowledge transfer.
The programme includes:
• Open sessions organised by the European Commission
• Paid ICPHSO International Symposium sessions
• Dedicated sessions for all the mentees and mentors
The organisers will arrange for the mentees’ travel and accommodation in Brussels and will provide them with an additional stipend (EUR 200) covering transport and food expenses during the conference, to the extent there are additional food/travel costs outside those already provided to conference participants as part of the conference.
Who can apply?
The Programme is open to full-time students:
• Based in the European Economic Area (the 27 EU Member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)
• At any stage of their academic education:
• Studying any academic discipline (e.g. law, data science, engineering, business and marketing, communication studies, sociology, information technology, medicine etc.), provided they are interested in consumer product safety.
Special attention will be given to inclusivity, equity and diversity and ensuring a broad representation of students.
How to apply?
The countdown has started: interested students should apply here by 5 July 2024 at noon CET.
As part of the application form, the students will need to explain and will be assessed on how they plan to share their key takeaways from the conference with a wider public (e.g. by posting on social media or organising a knowledge-sharing session at their university).
All applicants will be informed of the results of their application, and whether they have been selected for the progamme by 30 August 2024.
